Intrapulmonary percussive ventilation systems (HCPCS E0481) are a DME-covered item only when the reasonable and necessary criteria in the applicable LCD are met and all Medicare statutory/payment requirements are satisfied. Final Rule 1713 requires a face-to-face encounter and a Written Order Prior to Delivery (WOPD) for specified codes; failure to obtain these prior to delivery will result in claim denial and nonpayment. Suppliers should follow the LCD-related Standard Documentation Requirements (Article A55426) and consult PDAC for correct coding of E0481 components.
