Policy Summary
Medicare covers foot care when it is necessary and integral to diagnosis or treatment of foot ulcers, wounds, or infections, or when the patient has documented foot pain that necessitates evaluation and treatment. Routine foot care unconnected to pain or other covered indications is not covered; providers must document complaints of pain and relevant evaluation/treatment per MBPM Chapter 15 section 290 and SSA 1862(a)(1)(A).
