Billing and Coding: MolDX: HTTLPR Gene Testing

HTTLPR (serotonin transporter) genotyping is statutorily excluded from Medicare coverage for dates of service on or after 2013-06-26 and is not covered under Part A or Part B. To obtain a service denial, submit CPT 81479 and follow specific billing instructions (DEX Z-Code adjacent to CPT, use SV101-7/SV202-7 or NTE fields); an ABN is not required but if voluntarily issued use GX or GY modifiers as specified.
