Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10/Q10) laboratory testing (CPT 82542) is considered not reasonable and necessary and is non‑covered for all indications per LCD L37022; claims for this testing will be denied. To process denials, submit CPT 82542 on the claim; if issuing a voluntary ABN, append modifier GX and include the appropriate diagnosis code.

"Coenzyme Q10 (serum or other body fluid) testing is not reasonable and necessary for any diagnosis or clinical purpose and is not covered."
