Billing and Coding: E&M Coding for Oral Surgeons

Provider Specialty 19 (oral surgeons) may bill E&M codes 99202-99215 solely for evaluations of patients with sleep apnea to determine suitability for an oral appliance, provided all E&M documentation requirements are met. Any preoperative or postoperative visits after a decision to perform surgery are bundled into the surgical payment and are not payable separately.
