Limited or follow-up transthoracic echocardiography for evaluation of a single cardiac problem should be billed with CPT 93308 and limited Doppler follow-up studies with CPT 93321; intraoperative TEE by an anesthesiologist (CPT 93318) is included in anesthesia reimbursement and not separately reportable. Screening echocardiography must be billed with an appropriate screening ICD-10 code (initial screening must remain coded as screening even if abnormal), contrast supplies are billed separately while diagnostic injection services integral to contrast are not separately payable, and routinely billed multiple imaging studies without clinical indication will be limited to one allowed service.
