Ambulatory continuous EEG is covered only when preceded by a routine “resting” EEG (CPT 95812, 95813, 95816, 95819, or 95822), where the routine EEG is a recording of less than 24 continuous hours. The prior routine EEG claim must have been submitted to Medicare with a date of service within one year of the ambulatory EEG; claims with CPT codes not listed require supporting documentation and will be reviewed individually.
