Billing and Coding: Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) in Adults

This billing and coding guideline complements LCD L34869 for repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) in adults and applies to patients age 18 and older. Documentation must be maintained in the medical record, be legible, include patient identification, dates of service, and a legible provider signature; records must support the selected ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPCS codes and demonstrate medical necessity and be available upon contractor request.
