Billing and Coding: MolDX: Proteomics Testing
A59636
MolDX defines proteomics tests as multianalyte assays with proteins as major analytes that measure analyte interactions and require informatics (algorithms/nomograms/rubrics) to produce clinically valid results based on those interactions. All such tests in MolDX jurisdictions must register with the DEX Diagnostics Exchange and obtain a Z‑Code, be billed with an appropriate CPT/PLA/NOC code (reporting 1 UOS), include the Z‑Code in the specified claim fields, and will undergo Technical Assessment by Palmetto GBA (effective 2024‑01‑31); reimbursement changes enforcement is delayed until 2025‑01‑31.
"A test is considered a proteomics test if it is a multianalyte assay that includes proteins as the major or essential analytes."
