Billing and Coding: MolDX: Proteomics Testing
A59641
Proteomics tests are defined as multianalyte assays that use proteins as major analytes, measure analyte interactions, require informatics (algorithms/nomograms) to produce results, and demonstrate clinical validity based on analyte interactions. All such tests in MolDX jurisdictions must register in the DEX Diagnostics Exchange Registry and obtain a Z-Code, be reported with an appropriate CPT/PLA code (or 81599 NOC), include the Z-Code adjacent to the CPT on claim narrative fields, and will undergo Technical Assessment by Palmetto GBA (effective 2024-01-31; reimbursement enforcement delayed to 2025-01-31).
"Test is a multianalyte assay that includes proteins as the major or essential analytes."
