This billing/coding guidance applies to genetic testing for heritable thoracic aortic disease per LCD DL39946 and requires use of CPT code 81410, 81411, or 81479 with one unit of service. Submit the appropriate DEX Z-Code adjacent to the CPT code on specified Part A/B claim fields, include the correct ICD-10-CM diagnosis code, and bill only one test per patient; do not add extra characters to the SV101-7 DEX Z-Code field.

"Genetic testing for heritable thoracic aortic disease (HTAD) as defined by the referenced LCD DL39946 may be billed under this policy using the specified CPT codes."
