Billing and Coding: MolDX: Genetic Testing in Heritable Thoracic Aortic Disease

This billing/coding guidance applies to genetic testing for heritable thoracic aortic disease consistent with MolDX LCD L39946 and requires billing with CPT code 81410, 81411, or 81479. Only one test may be billed per patient (report 1 unit), and the appropriate DEX Z-Code must be entered adjacent to the CPT code in the specified Part A or Part B claim fields; select the supporting ICD-10-CM diagnosis code. Do not add extra characters when entering the DEX Z-Code on SV101-7.

"Genetic testing for heritable thoracic aortic disease is billed under this policy when consistent with the MolDX Local Coverage Determination L39946 and using one of the allowed CPT codes."
