Holter Monitors

Holter monitoring is medically necessary for adults to assess efficacy of arrhythmia medications or surgery, for autonomic cardiac neuropathy in diabetes, and for idiopathic hypertrophic or dilated cardiomyopathy, but is experimental/investigational for all other indications and the Empatica E4 Wristband. Coverage is generally limited to no more than twice in a six‑month period, recordings over 48 hours are not considered medically necessary, and cardiac event recorders should be used if more frequent monitoring is required.
