Aetna covers home chest physiotherapy only at initial prescription to stabilize the member and train family/caregivers and when the pulmonary condition is unstable, and it covers airway oscillating devices (e.g., Flutter, Acapella), mechanical percussors (e.g., Fluid Flo, Frequencer, VibraLung) and PEP masks as medically necessary DME for specified diagnoses (cystic fibrosis, chronic bronchitis, bronchiectasis, immotile cilia syndrome, asthma; PEP also for COPD). High‑frequency chest compression (HFCWO) is covered only for the listed indications and only after well‑documented failure of standard treatments, while HFCWO for other indications, intrapulmonary percussive ventilators (IPV, HCPCS E0481) and high‑frequency oscillation therapy are considered experimental/investigational and not covered.
