Biofeedback

Aetna covers biofeedback for cancer pain, fecal incontinence, irritable bowel syndrome, levator ani (anorectal pain) syndrome, and chronic constipation due to dyssynergic defecation (the latter requires confirmation by anorectal manometry). Biofeedback is not medically necessary for improving emotional/physical health in non-diseased persons, and home biofeedback, EEG biofeedback for migraine, and numerous other indications/devices are considered experimental/investigational and not covered.
