Quantitative Sensory Testing Methods
AETNA-CPB-0357
Quantitative sensory testing (QST), including pressure‑specified sensory device testing, is considered experimental and investigational and therefore not covered for detection of hyperalgesia in chronic pain patients on long‑term opioids, diagnosis of restless legs syndrome/Willis‑Ekbom disease, diagnosis of small fiber neuropathy in postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome, or evaluation of carpal tunnel syndrome, musculoskeletal pain, or trigeminal neuralgia. Key requirement: excluded from coverage because its diagnostic effectiveness/value has not been established.
