Amnioinfusion

Amnioinfusion (CPT 59070, including ultrasound guidance) is covered for prophylactic treatment of oligohydramnios, for reducing variable fetal heart decelerations from cord compression during labor, and for treatment of preterm PROM at ≥26 weeks (ICD‑10 O41.00x0–O41.00x9) when Aetna’s selection criteria are met. Aetna considers amnioinfusion experimental/investigational and not covered for chorioamnionitis, to facilitate external cephalic version, for pPROM before 26 weeks, for prevention of meconium aspiration, and for therapeutic second‑trimester anhydramnios (diagnostic use for ultrasound only).
