Policy Summary
Aetna covers medically necessary Chlamydia trachomatis screening per USPSTF/CDC/NICE for all pregnant women in the first trimester, all sexually active women aged ≤24, and women ≥25 with risk factors (prior STDs, new or multiple partners). Antigen point-of-care tests for asymptomatic screening, screening of asymptomatic men, screening of women who do not meet the listed criteria, and home testing are considered experimental/investigational and not covered (CPT codes only covered if selection criteria are met).
