Aetna covers therapeutic boards and tables such as postural drainage boards, prone boards for neuromuscular patients who need upright prone positioning, stand aids/stand‑alones and nonpowered standers for members who can maintain standing with residual lower‑extremity strength, and tilt tables for reconditioning orthostatic hypotension, but excludes bed boards, cutout tables, foot boards, lapboards, over‑the‑bed and standing tables, institutional equipment (e.g., Performa Power Mat, transfer discs) and exercise equipment (e.g., foot inversion or stimulation boards). Key requirements: standers/stand aids are medically necessary only when there is residual hip/leg strength (not for complete paralysis), many plans exclude exercise equipment so check member benefits, and HCPCS codes A9300, E0274 and E0315 are not covered for these indications.
