Compression Garments for the Legs
AETNA-CPB-0482
Aetna covers inflatable compression garments, non‑elastic binders, or individually fitted prescription graded compression stockings as medically necessary for complications of chronic venous insufficiency—lipodermatosclerosis, stasis dermatitis (venous eczema), varicose veins (excluding spider veins), and venous edema (must be individually fitted/prescribed). Silver‑impregnated stockings are not medically necessary, and compression garments are considered experimental/investigational (not covered) for indications such as improving functional performance in Parkinson disease, knee proprioception in rehabilitation, delayed‑onset muscle soreness, and post‑natal pain.
