Policy Summary
Aetna covers blood lead testing (CPT 83655) for diagnosis of symptomatic individuals, pregnant/lactating women with specified exposure risk factors, OSHA‑mandated occupational testing, and preventive screening for children in CDC/USPSTF/AAP/AAN‑defined high‑risk groups when selection criteria are met. Routine screening of average‑risk pregnant women is not covered, some plans may exclude work‑related or preventive services per benefit documents, and testing of bone, hair, teeth, or urine for lead is experimental/investigational and not covered.
