Salivary Tests
AETNA-CPB-0608
Late‑night salivary cortisol testing for diagnosis of Cushing’s syndrome (ICD‑10 E24.0–E24.9) is covered. Salivary biomarkers (e.g., SaLDH) and tests such as Viome CancerDetect‑Oral & Throat are described for oral/head‑and‑neck cancer detection (supported by reviews), but specific salivary assays — including Cordant CORE, salivary microbiota for minimal hepatic encephalopathy, diurnal salivary cortisol for predicting birth weight, salivary cortisol for sleep‑treatment response in pediatric POTS, and salivary creatinine/urea for uremic status — are considered experimental/investigational and not covered.
"CPT codes not covered: IgG antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 in saliva for monitoring seroprevalence and vaccine antibody response."
