Aetna covers endovascular repair of infra‑renal abdominal or aorto‑iliac aneurysms with FDA‑approved fenestrated/branched/non‑fenestrated stent grafts, descending thoracic aortic aneurysms with FDA‑approved endoprostheses, and endovascular stenting for aortic coarctation in patients ≥25 kg with systemic hypertension and a resting arm‑leg gradient >20 mmHg, with CT surveillance at 1, 6, and 12 months then annually; applicable CPT codes are covered when selection criteria are met. Aetna considers intra‑operative CT for EVAR, bifurcated‑bifurcated aorto‑iliac repair, the Nellix endovascular aneurysm sealing system, fabric/mesh wrapping, and implanted wireless pressure sensors experimental/investigational and not covered.
