Aetna considers all diagnostic tests and treatments for auditory processing disorder (APD) experimental and investigational and therefore not covered — including CPT codes 92507, 92508, 92521–92524, 92551–92588, 92620–92621; HCPCS S9128 and V5008; and ICD‑10 codes H93.25 and H93.291–H93.299. This exclusion is based on insufficient high‑quality evidence to validate APD diagnostic tests or demonstrate effectiveness of interventions (e.g., signal enhancement, linguistic/cognitive strategies, auditory training/integration, personal FM systems, computerized programs, medications), so no established therapies are covered.
