Rhinometry and Rhinomanometry

Aetna considers rhinomanometry, acoustic rhinometry, and optical rhinometry (CPT 92512) experimental/investigational and does not cover them for indications including acute and chronic sinusitis (J01.00–J01.91, J32.0–J32.9), vasomotor/allergic rhinitis (J30.1–J30.9), deviated nasal septum (J34.2) or turbinate hypertrophy (J34.3). This exclusion is based on inadequate evidence of clinical utility and no demonstrated superiority over physical exam, nasal endoscopy, or CT for guiding medical or surgical management.
