Home Behavioral Healthcare Services

Aetna covers skilled home behavioral healthcare (excluded: custodial/comfort care and continuous/full‑time or non‑intermittent services) when provided instead of continued hospitalization, residential treatment, or outpatient care. Coverage requires services be ordered by and provided under the supervision of an independently licensed physician or behavioral health professional, directly tied to an active treatment plan, skilled and appropriate to the condition, and intermittent/part‑time (visits up to 1 hour).
