In Vivo Analysis of Gastro-Intestinal and Urothelial Lesions
AETNA-CPB-0783
Aetna considers in‑vivo optical/advanced imaging analyses of gastrointestinal and urothelial lesions—such as chromoendoscopy, confocal laser endomicroscopy (including Cellvizio probe), endocytoscopy, EVIS EXERA 160A, fiberoptic/multi‑band/narrow‑band imaging, Optical Biopsy/Pentax Confocal Laser/WavSTAT systems, elastic‑scattering spectroscopy for colonic polyps, and ERCP with optical endomicroscopy for biliary lesions—experimental and investigational and therefore not covered. These technologies are excluded because their effectiveness has not been established due to insufficient evidence, and confocal laser endomicroscopy is specifically non‑established for uses like assessing safe surgical margins during laryngectomy.
