CG-ANC-08 Mobile Device-Based Health Management Applications

This policy addresses mobile device-based health management applications (mobile software applications used on smartphones/tablets). They are covered as medically necessary only when all criteria are met: the app is FDA-cleared/approved, there is credible scientific evidence of its impact on health outcomes, and it has been shown to materially improve net health outcomes or be at least as beneficial as established alternatives. They are not covered when any of these criteria are not met.
