CG-DME-36 Pediatric Gait Trainers

This policy addresses pediatric gait trainers with trunk support (HCPCS E8000–E8002). They are covered as medically necessary for individuals age 18 or younger who require moderate to maximum support for ambulation due to injury or chronic conditions (e.g., cerebral palsy, neuromuscular disease, spina bifida) and who can demonstrate the ability to ambulate with the device. They are not medically necessary when these criteria are not met.
