CG-DME-49 Standing Frames
ANTHEM-CG-DME-49
This policy addresses standing frames (non-powered and powered). A non-powered standing frame is medically necessary when a clinician’s written assessment shows the member has a neuromuscular condition (e.g., MS, cerebral palsy, spinal cord injury, stroke) that prevents independent standing but they can maintain standing with the frame, the member has completed training and can safely use it at home, and the device is expected to provide therapeutic or functional benefit; replacement is covered only when plan-specific replacement criteria are met. Not covered: non-powered frames when these criteria are not met, any other indications, replacement when replacement criteria are not met, and all powered standing frames.
"A non-powered standing frame is consideredmedically necessarywhen a written assessment by a physician or other appropriate clinician demonstrates criteria 1, 2 and 3 are met:"
