Policy Summary
This policy addresses resting electrocardiogram (ECG) screening in adults (≥18 years). Anthem considers screening resting ECGs not medically necessary (not covered) for asymptomatic adults with no family history of sudden cardiac death who are at low risk for coronary heart disease (10-year risk <10%). Diagnostic ECGs for evaluating symptoms or for higher-risk individuals are outside this screening policy and may be covered under applicable plan benefits.
