CG-MED-76 Magnetic Source Imaging and Magnetoencephalography

This policy addresses magnetoencephalography (MEG), including magnetic source imaging (MSI). MEG/MSI is medically necessary only for preoperative evaluation of intractable focal epilepsy when other studies are indeterminate and for preoperative localization of eloquent cortex before resection of brain tumors or vascular malformations to preserve function; it is not medically necessary for all other indications.
