CG-MED-95 Transanal Irrigation

This policy addresses transanal irrigation (TAI) for bowel management. TAI is medically necessary when all criteria are met: the individual is at least 2 years old and has a qualifying diagnosis such as neurogenic bowel dysfunction, a congenital disorder (e.g., Hirschsprung disease or anorectal malformations), fecal incontinence, or chronic constipation; it is not medically necessary when these criteria are not met.
