DME.00047 Rehabilitative Devices with Remote Monitoring

This policy addresses rehabilitative devices with remote monitoring or remote adjustment capabilities (for example, ROMTech PortableConnect) used to improve range of motion and related functions. Anthem considers these devices investigational and not medically necessary; they are not covered for any indication, including post–knee arthroplasty rehabilitation. There are no covered exceptions or conditions; claims (often billed under HCPCS E1399) are not eligible for coverage.
