DME.00048 Virtual Reality-Assisted Therapy Systems

This policy addresses virtual reality (VR)-assisted systems (immersive or non-immersive; passive or interactive) used for screening, diagnosis, or treatment of health conditions. Anthem considers VR-assisted therapy investigational and not medically necessary for all indications; therefore, it is not covered. There are no covered indications or exceptions, and related claims (e.g., E1399, E1905) may be denied.
