LAB.00024 Immune Cell Function Assay

This policy addresses immune cell function assays used to assess immune status (e.g., in transplant or immune-related conditions). Anthem considers these assays investigational and not medically necessary; therefore, they are not covered for any indication. This includes use for managing solid organ transplant rejection (including in patients on immunosuppression), identifying rejection risk prior to any solid organ transplant, managing autologous or allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, and managing immunodeficiency (e.g., HIV, SCID) or immune‑mediated disorders (e.g., rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis).
