MED.00082 Quantitative Sensory Testing
ANTHEM-MED.00082
Anthem
Effective: October 1, 2025
Updated: December 30, 2025
Policy Summary
This policy addresses quantitative sensory testing (QST), including current perception threshold/sensory nerve conduction threshold testing and pressure-specified sensory device testing. Anthem considers QST investigational and not medically necessary for all indications; therefore, it is not covered (e.g., HCPCS G0255). There are no covered exceptions, as its psychophysical, subjective nature limits clinical utility for diagnosing or managing conditions such as neuropathies or nerve entrapments.
