This policy addresses optical detection systems that use specialized cameras and light to assess the cervix for screening, identification, or biopsy guidance for cervical cancer. Anthem considers this service investigational/experimental and not medically necessary; therefore, it is not covered. Coverage is not provided in any setting or indication (including screening, diagnosis, or monitoring), and related claims (e.g., CPT/HCPCS 58999) will be denied.
