MED.00092 Automated Nerve Conduction Testing

This policy addresses automated, noninvasive nerve conduction testing devices (portable/handheld systems with automated analysis) used to perform nerve conduction studies. Anthem considers these automated nerve conduction tests investigational and not medically necessary for all indications, including when used as an alternative to standard nerve conduction studies. There are no covered indications or exceptions under this policy; conventional EMG/NCS may be assessed under separate policies.
