MED.00133 Ingestion Event Monitors

This policy addresses ingestion event monitors (IEMs), including ingestible sensors taken with medications to transmit adherence data to an external sensor/app. Anthem considers IEMs investigational and not medically necessary; they are not covered for medication monitoring/adherence or any other indication. There are no covered indications under this policy (all uses are non-covered).
