This policy addresses radiostereometric analysis (RSA), a technique that uses implanted radiopaque markers and paired X-rays to measure orthopedic implant movement and fracture healing. Coverage: Anthem considers RSA investigational and not medically necessary for all indications; it is not covered, including for assessing migration/wear of orthopedic implants or healing of spine and extremity fractures. Limitation: There are no covered indications under this policy.
