RAD.00067 Quantitative Ultrasound for Tissue Characterization

This policy addresses quantitative ultrasound (QUS) for tissue characterization, including systems such as Toshiba Aplio, Siemens ACUSON, GE LOGIQ E10, and AI/ML-based QUS techniques. Anthem deems QUS for tissue characterization investigational and not medically necessary for all indications; therefore, it is not covered. There are no covered indications or exceptions, regardless of device brand, FDA 510(k) status, clinical setting, or use of AI/ML algorithms.
