SURG.00099 Convection-Enhanced Delivery of Therapeutic Agents to the Brain

This policy addresses convection-enhanced delivery (CED) of therapeutic agents into the brain parenchyma for conditions such as brain tumors. Anthem considers CED investigational and not medically necessary; it is not covered for any indication, regardless of the drug or diagnosis. There are no covered circumstances, and related services may be billed under CPT 64999 or HCPCS C5252.
