This policy addresses artificial retinal devices, including epiretinal and subretinal retinal implant systems intended to restore vision in retinal diseases (e.g., retinitis pigmentosa, AMD). Anthem considers these devices investigational and not medically necessary; they are not covered for any indication. This noncoverage applies to all models/uses, including services billed under C1841, C1842, and L8608.
