Abdomen Imaging Guidelines
EVICORE-ABDOMEN
This policy covers abdominal imaging studies—primarily CT abdomen and CT abdomen/pelvis (including CT enterography), ultrasound and related advanced imaging—for evaluation of common abdominal symptoms and defined clinical conditions. It applies to presentations such as abdominal pain, suspected abscess/sepsis, renal/ureteral stones, blunt trauma, postoperative pain (within a 60‑day window), vascular aneurysms, masses, hernias and other specified indications, but requires a current clinical evaluation within 60 days, documentation of conservative management where applicable, physician review for atypical presentations, and generally uses IV contrast unless contraindicated (eg, renal insufficiency or contrast allergy).
