Abdomen Imaging Guidelines
EVICORE-ABDOMEN-IMAGING-GUIDELINES
This policy covers abdominal imaging—primarily advanced modalities (CT, MRI, CTA/MRA and related studies)—for a wide range of abdominal conditions including abdominal pain, suspected abscess/sepsis, renal/ureteral stones, blunt trauma, postoperative evaluation, aneurysm surveillance, hernias, masses, ischemia and many other specified indications. Coverage requires a documented clinical evaluation (history and physical), atypical presentations require physician review, certain listed signs/symptoms may waive prerequisites while obvious hemorrhoidal bleeding or clearly benign palpable masses do not, and follow-up imaging is only indicated when specified by condition‑specific guidelines or manufacturer package inserts.
