Pediatric Musculoskeletal Imaging Guidelines

Diagnostic pediatric musculoskeletal imaging (radiography, CT, MRI, nuclear medicine and related procedures) as addressed by eviCore’s Clinical Decision Support Tool for common pediatric symptom pathways. Applicable to conditions such as fractures/dislocations, soft-tissue and bone masses, limp, developmental dysplasia of the hip, AVN/Legg‑Calvé‑Perthes, suspected child abuse, infection/osteomyelitis, SCFE and many others, but imaging requests outside the tool’s covered scenarios or atypical presentations require physician review, advanced imaging should follow pertinent clinical evaluation and basic imaging, and certain contrast MRI codes are noted as rarely used.
