Key requirements: fixed beds need one indication (positioning not possible with a standard bed, head‑of‑bed ≥30°, or need for specialized attachable equipment); variable beds require BOTH a transfer‑height need and ≥1 of those indications; semi‑electric requires BOTH frequent/urgent position changes and ≥1 of those indications; total electric requires ALL three (frequent/urgent position changes, electric adjustable height for independent transfers, and ≥1 of the other indications); heavy‑duty extra‑wide is limited to >350–≤600 lb with ≥1 of the indications and extra‑heavy‑duty to >600 lb with ≥1 of the indications.
