Oncology Imaging Guidelines

This policy covers oncologic imaging studies (advanced and conventional) for evaluation, staging, restaging, surveillance, and treatment response across a wide range of cancers (e.g., CNS, head and neck, lung, breast, GI, sarcomas, melanoma, thyroid, renal, and many more). Major limitations: the tool addresses common symptom complexes and requires physician review for atypical presentations, a prior relevant clinical evaluation or meaningful contact (except for guideline-supported scheduled surveillance) and usually histologic confirmation/staging before imaging review, routine/asymptomatic imaging is generally not supported, and studies not listed are not covered.
