CMM-406: Arthroscopy Ankle
EVICORE-MSK_ADVANCED-6C630ED8
Arthroscopically aided ankle repair (CPT 29892), endoscopic plantar fasciotomy (CPT 29893), and ankle arthroscopy are covered only when patients have compatible subjective symptoms and objective exam findings, supportive or inconclusive imaging, and have failed specified conservative care (typically ≥6 weeks for osteochondral lesions/fractures and plantar fasciitis—with plantar fasciitis generally requiring PT, orthoses and trial of corticosteroid injection unless contraindicated; ankle arthroscopy often requires bracing ≥3 months and a walker boot 1–2 months where applicable). Procedures are excluded when there is active infection/septic arthritis, peripheral vascular disease, inability to comply with rehab/weight-bearing restrictions, poor soft tissues or uncontrolled comorbidities, or in acute/locked joints with loose fragments (urgent evaluation indicated), and full documentation of history, exam, imaging (X‑ray ± MRI/CT/US) and conservative-treatment records is required.
